CollectorsPost.com has had an Internet presence since October 1996. At first, the site provided only information about theatre history. Its famed "Medieval Drama Links" are a well-known educational aid that has been given over 100 awards. Over 500 universities and colleges worldwide have linked to the site.

In September 1999, CollectorsPost.com commenced Internet trading, specializing in the sale of paper collectibles, especially those concerned with theatre and the cinema. It continued also to provide information on theatrical history, including its well-known series "The Golden Age of Theatre, 1890-1920". CollectorPost.com rapidly established itself as the major Internet source for theatrical memorabilia.

The founder and president of CollectorsPost.com, is Sydney Higgins, a retired Professor of English Drama and theatrical director who has written over fifty books and organized many international conferences and festivals. He was well aware that, despite the ups and downs of world stock-markets, paper collectibles have been continually rising in value over the last decade or so. He also knew only too well that online-auctions had too often proved to be an inadequate and disappointing place to buy and sell such collectibles. His own experience selling online proved that there was a desperate need for a reputable and trustworthy marketplace where serious collectors could sell and buy genuine collectibles at a fixed price, thus avoiding the disappointments and uncertainties of online auctions.
