A Growing Resource
Thousands of Playbills, programs, photos, letters and other documents are listed on Collectors' Post. That means there are
references to tens of thousands of actors, actresses, singers, musicians, politicians and writers. Some of these lived and
died in the Nineteenth Century: many are still living and at the height of their fame.
But fame is transitory. Even the names of many of the most significant and seminal figures in the history of the theatre,
cinema and music are known only by a limited number of collectors, historians and aficionados. Of course, these are the ones
most lively to purchase items concerned with people unknown to the vast majority.
Collectors' Post sells collectable ephemera but it is not only concerned with selling. We also seek to provide an educational
resource that provides information about influential figures in the world of entertainment, both past and present. That is why
this site includes, for example, our award-winning Medieval Drama Links and our
Golden Age of Theatre biographies of British actors from the period 1890-1920. The
Actors on Collectors' Post is an important addition to these resources.
Each of the growing number of pages of Actors on Collectors' Post gives a concise biography of a
performer plus a list of the items concerned with that person that are currently for sale on Collectors' Post. You can find
out what pages are at present available by clicking on the letters in the column to the left - entries are arranged in
alphabetical order of surnames.
If you have any comments on entries or would like to provide biographical information about a performer, please contact us
